Modernization of ticketing system at GPP Osijek
Positive experience and results of the introduction of the electronic ticket sales and control system from 2008. have ecouraged GPP d.o.o. Osijek to upgrade the system, so an open public procurement process was conducted in which PENTA bid was selected, according to which modernization was envisaged in two project phases. The first phase was successfully completed in January 2018. when the technological upgrading of the existing ticketing system was completed, while the second phase began in mid 2019., so the installation of the latest generation ticketing system equipment will be performed, but also the modernization of software in order to support new functionalities.
Modernization Project of ticketing system at GPP is extremely complex because it takes place in parallel technological upgrade and supports the work of the old system, without the users feel the above transition.
GPP is an example of good practice for public transport carriers, since it has decided to replace the technologically old equipment with newer, more modern ones, with the aim of improving passenger transport services, which will eventually lead to increased use of public transport and better control over costs.
Upon completion of the project, GPP will have a system that will integrate the BusCARD system, video surveillance of passengers and vehicles, ticket sales, passenger information, and upgraded parts of the company's IT organizational systems. The existing contactless card BUTRA is still the basis of the system; BUTRA is the information carrier, and enables efficient and quick payment and identification of passengers and employees.
In September 2019, GPP introduces SMARTICA - a new version of the digital transport ticket, while PENTA will as a part of the modernization project, integrate BUTRA what will consequently enable the registration and use of monthly BUTRA in the SMARTICA application.
